Welcome to Hopkins Academy in Hadley, Massachusetts. Founded in 1664, Hopkins is one of the oldest secondary schools in the United States with a long tradition of excellence in academics, athletics and the arts. Providing public education for Hadley residents (limited school choice openings are determined on a yearly basis) in grades 7-12, grades 7 and 8 function as a middle school, while grades 9-12 follow an alternating day, modified long block schedule. Instruction is provided by a staff of highly qualified professionals and support personnel in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.

Principal April A. Camuso has been working for Hadley Public Schools since fall 2008. Previously she has spent time as an English teacher, English Department Chair, Head Teacher and Director of Curriculum. Ms. Camuso transitioned to the Building Principal in the summer of 2020. She holds a B.A. in English, a M.A. in English and Teaching, and a CAGS in Reading. Currently Ms. Camuso is completing a PhD at UMASS at Amherst in the College of Education’s Education, Policy, Research and Administration program. Over the years Ms. Camuso has advised several clubs, such as the Peer Mentor program, Gender Equity Task Force and International Travel.
