Though once a
private school, Hopkins Academy is Hadley’s outstanding
public Middle and High School for students in grades 7-12.
Hopkins was founded in 1664 thanks to an endowment from Edward
Hopkins, a wealthy Connecticut merchant.
The school excels in
academics compared to the majority of public schools in Massachusetts. In
fact, U.S. New and World Report (December 2009) has voted Hopkins Academy
one of the top schools in the nation. Hopkins Academy also has notable
soccer, basketball and baseball teams with a number of talented locally
known athletes. Hopkins
is also home to an award winning concert/marching band.
Hopkins
Academy serves as a center of the Hadley community. The school
provides an opportunity for the entire community to take pride in the achievements
and accomplishments of Hadley's youth.
